Emily Bent is an Associate Professor in the Department of Women and Gender Studies at Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, Pace University. She is based in the NYC campus and actively teaches courses on feminist theory, gender and human rights, and girlhood activism. Her research centers on global girlhood, feminist activism, and youth political engagement.

Dr. Bent’s research focuses on feminist girlhoods, transnational girlhoods, girls’ human rights, and youth political agency. Her work critically examines how teenage girls engage in activism, particularly within global institutions like the United Nations. She explores the intersections of gender, age, race, and class in shaping girls’ political identities and participation.
Her publications and research projects analyze the evolution of feminist activism from third to fourth wave, the impact of digital media on girl-led movements, and the structural challenges faced by girl activists in global governance. Themes of empowerment, precarity, and intersectionality recur throughout her scholarly output.

Dr. Bent is actively involved in mentoring students through independent studies and capstone projects. Her professional service includes leadership roles in the National Women's Studies Association and the Working Group on Girls.
She is a core member of the Women's & Gender Studies Curriculum Committee and contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives focused on youth, social justice, and feminist pedagogy. Her teaching emphasizes experiential learning and civic engagement.
