Guy Powell

Guy Powell is a Lecturer in Guitar at the University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music. He concurrently teaches at San Joaquin Delta College and Modesto Junior College. Holding a BM from California State University, Sacramento and an MM from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Powell specializes in classical guitar performance and education. His principal teachers include Richard Savino, David Tannenbaum, and Marc Teicholz.

Research interests focus on classical guitar performance, chamber music ensembles (e.g., Tritarra & Duo Sonik), and music outreach. He actively participates in festivals like Guitarraganza and co-directed its 2015-2017 iterations. Powell co-founded Guitars Not Guns’ San Joaquin County chapter, providing guitars and lessons to at-risk youth. He was elected to the Pi Kappa Lambda honor society’s Delta chapter in 2022.
