Professor Guy Patrick BANIM is a Visiting Professor at the EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies Department of the College of Europe, Bruges. With over 20 years of experience in peace process support, he specializes in mediation, conflict prevention, and inclusive dialogue mechanisms. His career includes roles in the Northern Ireland Office, EU external missions (Afghanistan, Nepal, Ethiopia), and the European External Action Service (EEAS). He advises international organizations like the African Union on peace architecture and is certified in multi-track mediation.
Education:
- Master’s in Conflict and Sustainable Peace from KU Leuven
- Training in multi-track mediation (German Federal Association for Mediation)
Research Interests:
Focuses on EU mediation strategies, preventive diplomacy, and the role of technology in peace processes. His work emphasizes participatory dialogue design and has addressed case studies in Nepal, Mozambique, Myanmar, and Togo. He advocates for inclusive peace processes that integrate marginalized groups and local stakeholders.
