Dr. Guolei Zhou is a Professor of Cell Biology at Arkansas State University, affiliated with the Beck College of Sciences & Mathematics and the Department of Biological Sciences. His research focuses on signal transduction, actin cytoskeleton regulation, and their roles in cancerous transformation.
- Ph.D., Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Tottori University, Japan
- M.S., Life Science and Biotechnology, Shimane University, Japan
- M.S., Genetics and Plant Breeding, China Agricultural University
- B.S., Genetics and Plant Breeding, China Agricultural University
Research Interests include:
- Signal transduction and phosphor-regulation of CAP1
- Actin cytoskeleton and cell adhesion
- Molecular mechanisms of cell migration and proliferation
- Translational potential in targeted cancer therapeutics
Teaching Specialties span undergraduate and graduate courses such as Biology of the Cell, Advanced Cell Biology, and Cancer Biology. His lab has uncovered novel insights into CAP1's role in cAMP/Rap1 and CDK5 signaling pathways across colon and breast cancers.
Publications highlight CAP1's dynamic phosphorylation in actin filament disassembly, metastatic regulation in pancreatic and breast cancers, and cross-talk between kinase pathways like ERK and GSK3β. These studies extend to Signal Transduction, Biochemistry, and Cancer Biology disciplines.
