Dr. Teresa Bonello is a Research Fellow at the Division of Genome Sciences and Cancer within the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR) at the Australian National University (ANU). Her research focuses on cell polarity, adherens junction dynamics, and the actin cytoskeleton's role in cancer and developmental biology. She leads projects exploring how polarity proteins like Scribble and Rap1 regulate epithelial cell structure and signaling pathways such as Hippo.
Research Projects:
- "Normalising the tumour microenvironment to improve treatment outcomes for triple negative breast cancer" (2024-2025)
- "3D bioprinting tissues and cellular models for medical research" (2023)
- "The Leica Stellaris 8 Platform: bringing live cell super resolution microscopy to ANU" (2022)
Key Research Themes include:
- Adherens junction assembly and remodelling during cell division
- Actin cytoskeleton regulation in cancer progression
- Synaptogenesis and polarity protein scaffolding
Awards & Recognition: No specific awards listed, but her work has been widely cited (353 citations).
Technical Expertise includes advanced microscopy techniques and 3D bioprinting collaborations. Her lab contributes to developing novel anticancer strategies targeting cytoskeletal components.
