Gregory David is an Associate Professor in both the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology and the Department of Urology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He serves as Associate Director of the Medical Scientist Training Program Admissions at the Vilcek Institute. His research focuses on chromatin biology, cancer mechanisms, genome integrity, and senescence, with particular emphasis on how epigenetic regulation influences hematopoietic stem cells and cancer cell survival. Dr. David holds a PhD from the Pasteur Institute.
His research interests include understanding how chromatin remodeling proteins like SIN3B affect cancer cell response to genotoxic stress, therapy-induced senescence driving tumor plasticity, and the role of senescence in aging-related diseases. He investigates mechanisms linking epigenetic dysregulation to pulmonary arterial hypertension and fibrosis, with implications for novel therapeutic strategies.
Dr. David’s recent publications emphasize the interplay between chromatin dynamics and cancer biology, with studies published in Epigenetics & Chromatin, Molecular Cancer Research, and Onogene. His work bridges basic research and clinical applications, highlighted by contributions to medical education reforms in the MD-PhD training pathway.
He is affiliated with NYU Langone’s research institutes and collaborates on projects addressing cancer dormancy, metastasis, and senescence-associated pathologies.
