Gregory Conti is an Associate Professor of Politics at Princeton University, affiliated with the Department of Politics. His research focuses on the history of modern political thought, particularly liberalism, democracy, and representative government. He is the author of Parliament the Mirror of the Nation: Representation, Deliberation, and Democracy in Victorian Britain (Cambridge University Press, 2019) and has published widely in political theory and intellectual history. Conti teaches courses such as Modern Political Theory and Political Theory of the French Revolution. His work addresses themes including freedom of speech, deliberative democracy, and the relationship between democratic ideals and historical institutional frameworks.
Education: BA from the University of Chicago, PhD from Harvard University, and a fellowship at Jesus College, University of Cambridge. He is currently researching Albert Venn Dicey and liberal theories of equality. Conti’s recent public writing critiques the Khalil deportation case as a free-speech issue, emphasizing the importance of civil liberties for lawful residents. His scholarship bridges historical analysis with contemporary political debates.
