Dr. Gregg Rich serves as an Associate Professor in the Health Sciences & Kinesiology department within the Waters College of Health Professions at Georgia Southern University. With seven years of service at the institution, he currently holds the position of Undergraduate Coordinator for the Sport Management program and serves as its internship course supervisor. Dr. Rich teaches multiple courses including Sport Management Internship (SMGT 4735), Ticketing and Sponsorship Sales (SMGT 4533), and Sport Management Practicum (SMGT 3735) at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr. Rich's research expertise spans sport sponsorship, fan experience, student-athlete development, and event management. His work frequently examines sponsorship portfolio effects, fan behavior at sporting events, concession experiences, and the unique dynamics of student-athletes at Historically Black Universities. His research applies theoretical frameworks like Expectation Disconfirmation Theory and Signaling Theory to analyze consumer behavior and sponsorship effectiveness in sports contexts.
Dr. Rich maintains an active publication record with 30 research outputs and an h-index of 12. His recent publications (2022-2025) demonstrate a focus on practical applications of sport marketing theories, with particular attention to fan experience elements such as food and beverage services, social groupings, and market demand factors. His research shows consistent output across multiple high-impact sport management journals.
