Grant Robert Gordon is a Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, affiliated with the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute. His research focuses on neurovascular coupling, stress, and Alzheimer's disease mechanisms.
- B.S. in Kinesiology (2011), University of Calgary
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience (2006), University of Calgary
Research investigates how brain cells regulate cerebral blood flow through neurovascular unit mechanisms, employing optogenetics, chemogenetics, and two-photon imaging in rodent models. His work addresses vascular dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease and stress-related synaptic impairments.
Recent publications emphasize CD2AP's role in cerebrovascular pathology, astrocyte calcium signaling, and innovative neuroimaging tools. Key research themes include neurovascular coupling dynamics, vascular aging, and metabolic communication.
- Top 40 under 40 Award, Avenue Magazine (2015)
Active in university strategic initiatives (Brain and Mental Health, 2015-2021) and teaches advanced neuroscience courses including Cellular, Molecular and Developmental Neuroscience and Light Microscopy applications.
