Graham David Livesey is a Professor at the University of Calgary’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape, specializing in architectural design, history, and urban theory. He holds a PhD from Delft University of Technology and has taught at the university since joining in 1993. Livesey’s academic career includes roles as Associate Dean (Academic – Architecture) and Director of the Architecture Program. He is a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (FRAIC) and has led the architectural firm Down + Livesey Architects, contributing to projects such as the Vulcan County Administration Building Expansion and the Alberta College of Art & Design expansion.

His research focuses on modern architecture in Canada, urban design theory, and ecological urbanism. Key themes include the Garden City Movement, agency in design, and sustainable city models. Livesey has authored/co-authored books like Ecologies of the Early Garden City (2019) and edited volumes on Le Corbusier and Canadian modern architecture.
Recent publications explore contemporary urban challenges, such as the Calgary Central Library and sustainable residential projects like the Shane Homes YMCA. His work bridges historical analysis and modern urban practice, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to architecture and planning.
