Gohar Karapetian

Mr. Dr. Gohar Karapetian is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Groningen, specializing in Constitutional Law. He holds editorial roles at the Dutch Journal of Constitutional Law and participates in key committees like the European Research Group 'Parliament and Time.' His research focuses on citizenship, parliamentary functioning, and comparative legal frameworks. Recently, he leads the KNAW-funded project analyzing the Dutch parliament's size from a historical and comparative French perspective (2024–2027).

Education: He earned his PhD cum laude in 2020 with a dissertation on 'Morganatic Citizenship,' conducting research at the Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas. His expertise bridges Dutch constitutional law with broader European legal systems.

Research Interests: Karapetian explores citizenship dynamics, parliamentary mechanisms, and constitutional challenges in multi-state systems like the Kingdom of the Netherlands. His work often integrates historical and comparative methodologies to address contemporary governance issues.
