Dr. Giuliana Fuscaldo is a Research Fellow at the Monash Bioethics Centre and a Sessional Academic in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. She is actively involved in research and teaching in bioethics, with a focus on reproductive technologies and clinical ethics. She is accepting PhD students and supervises research through Monash’s Supervisor Connect program.

Her research interests lie at the intersection of bioethics and reproductive medicine, particularly ethical issues in gamete and embryo donation, clinical decision-making, and the societal implications of fertility preservation technologies. She has extensive experience in both clinical embryology and ethics research, having worked at a Melbourne IVF clinic and managed research and ethics programs at Barwon Health.
Her recent publications (2022–2025) demonstrate a strong focus on patient experiences and ethical dimensions of egg freezing, including storage, disposition decisions, and employer-sponsored programs. These works appear in leading journals such as Reproductive BioMedicine Online and AJOB Empirical Bioethics, reflecting her expertise in empirical bioethics and qualitative health research.
Dr. Fuscaldo has contributed to advancing clinical ethics services and research capacity in healthcare settings. Her work supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in health and ethical development.
She collaborates extensively with researchers such as Michelle Johnston, Daniela Zander-Fox, and Lisa Sutton, and her research is widely disseminated, with coverage in multiple news outlets and academic platforms.
