Dr Lauren Notini is a Research Fellow in Biomedical Ethics at the Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne, and an Honorary Fellow with the Biomedical Ethics Research Group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. Her work focuses on paediatric bioethics, clinical ethics, empirical bioethics, and the ethics of assisted reproductive technologies. She has been part of the Melbourne Law School since 2018, contributing to research on emerging healthcare technologies like mitochondrial replacement and in vitro-derived gametes, as well as transgender health and paediatric surgeries.
Education:
- PhD in Biomedical Ethics (University of Melbourne, 2016)

- Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Biomedical Science (University of Melbourne, 2009–2010)
Her research integrates empirical and theoretical approaches, including clinical ethics consultation and policy development. Before joining Melbourne Law School, she held a postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics, where she engaged in clinical ethics, bioethics education, and research ethics review.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Health Law and Ethics Network and collaborates with the Biomedical Ethics Research Group.
