Dr Lauren Notini is a Lecturer and Unit Coordinator at the Monash Bioethics Centre, Monash University, within the Faculty of Arts. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Master of Bioethics program. Prior to this, she served as a Research Assistant on an Australian Research Council-funded project led by Professor Justin Oakley. She holds a PhD in pediatric bioethics from the University of Melbourne (2016), a Master of Bioethics from Monash University (2012), and dual bachelor’s degrees in Biomedical Science and Science (Honours) from the University of Melbourne. Dr Notini’s research focuses on empirical bioethics, clinical ethics, pediatric bioethics, and the ethics of emerging healthcare technologies. She has held external roles as a Research Fellow in Biomedical Ethics at Murdoch Children's Research Institute (2018–2021) and the University of Melbourne (2018–2021). Her recent work addresses genomic screening, religious pluralism in healthcare, and ethical challenges in genetic testing.

Research Interests
Dr Notini’s work explores the intersection of empirical data and ethical frameworks in healthcare. Her key areas include pediatric ethics, clinical decision-making in genomics, and the role of religion in medical practice. She emphasizes ethical considerations for new technologies and their impact on patient care. Recent studies investigate clinicians’ perspectives on genomic newborn screening and exome sequencing outcomes, as well as ethical dilemmas arising from religious diversity in healthcare settings.
Grants and Projects
Her research has been supported by the Australian Research Council (ARC) through the project 'Religion, pluralism and healthcare practice: a philosophical assessment' (DP190101597). She has collaborated internationally, with notable work conducted at the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics (2015–2017).
