Dr. Molly Johnston is a Research Fellow at the Monash Bioethics Centre and Teaching Associate in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Monash Health. Her interdisciplinary work bridges social science, bioethics, and health policy, focusing on the ethical, social, and regulatory aspects of reproductive technologies. She coordinates the unit MCE5213: Regulation and Ethics in Assisted Reproductive Technologies.
Her research addresses cutting-edge issues such as non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), egg freezing disposition, AI in embryo selection, and mitochondrial donation clinical trials. She has contributed to 30+ academic/industry presentations, including international and invited talks, and engages in public discourse through media outlets.
Key projects include examining ethical challenges of machine learning in embryo selection (MLES) and exploring oocyte disposition practices post-cryopreservation. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health equity and innovation.
