Giulia Ponterio serves as Associate Professor of Human Anatomy at Saint Camillus International University of Health and Medical Sciences (UniCamillus), teaching in the MSc Medicine and Surgery (LM-41) programs across Rome and Cefalù campuses.
Her academic foundation includes:
- Master Degree in Medical Biotechnology from University of Rome Tor Vergata
- PhD in Neuroscience from University of Rome Tor Vergata
Her research specializes in basal ganglia anatomy and neurophysiology, with deep focus on movement disorder mechanisms including Parkinson's disease and dystonias. This work was conducted at Fondazione Santa Lucia IRCCS's Lab of Neurophysiology and Plasticity where she executed multiple scientific projects on neurological dysfunction pathways.
She has secured numerous pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships at University of Rome Tor Vergata, authored publications in international journals, and presented findings at national and international conferences.
