Georgios Skiniotis is a Professor at Stanford University, holding joint appointments in Molecular and Cellular Physiology, Structural Biology, and Photon Science. His research focuses on resolving structural and mechanistic questions in cellular physiology using cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM) combined with biochemistry, biophysics, and simulation methods. The Skiniotis laboratory investigates cell surface receptors involved in intracellular signaling, particularly cytokine receptors and G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) complexes.
- Affiliations: SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (operated by Stanford University for the U.S. Department of Energy)
Research emphasizes transmembrane signal transduction mechanisms, leveraging cutting-edge structural biology techniques. The lab’s interdisciplinary approach integrates advanced microscopy with computational modeling to achieve dynamic insights into macromolecular complex functions.
