Georgios Halkias is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Center of Buddhist Studies, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, People's Republic of China. He holds a Research Fellowship at the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London), funded by the British Academy since 2010, and serves as a Visiting Research Associate and Fellow at the University of Oxford's Faculty of Oriental Studies and Oxford Centre of Buddhist Studies, respectively.

Halkias specializes in Tibetan Pure Land Buddhism and the historical dissemination of canonical Buddhist literature from Sanskrit to Tibetan. His research spans translation practices, canonization processes, Buddhist-Muslim interactions in Himalayan regions, Ladakhi canons, and Vajrayāna schools of thought and ritual technologies, with fieldwork in North-West India, Nepal, and Tibet.
