Georgina Fooks is a DPhil student in Spanish at the University of Oxford, funded by major scholarships including the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Clarendon Fund. She holds an MSt and BA from Merton College, Oxford. As a Lecturer, she has taught undergraduate courses on translation and Spanish American literature at Trinity College and St Catherine's College. Her research explores translational poetics in Argentine poets Alejandra Pizarnik and Susana Thénon, focusing on translingual practices and post-dictatorship aesthetics.
Her work bridges queer theory, postcolonial studies, and visual arts. Recent conference presentations include analyses of Pizarnik’s self-translation practices and Thénon’s post-dictatorship poetics at venues like the Society of Latin American Studies and University of Liège. She serves as Director of Outreach for Asymptote and co-convenes the Oxford Comparative Criticism and Translation Discussion Group.
