Arthur Wotton is a Departmental Lecturer in Spanish and Spanish American Literature and Film at the University of Oxford, affiliated with St Catherine's and St John's Colleges. He holds a BA in Modern Languages from New College, an MSt in Spanish from Queen's College, and a DPhil from Christ Church. His research focuses on Venezuelan psychiatrist-turned-writer Francisco Herrera Luque's biographical novels and historical fiction, exploring intersections between history, fiction, and nationhood in Latin American literature.

Research interests include modern Latin American prose, political fiction, the literary 'Boom', dictator novels, and Latin American cinema. Teaching responsibilities span Latin American literature from Independence to present (Papers VIII/XI), Spanish Prelims, translation, and film modules like Paper XII (Cinema) and the interdisciplinary 'Contesting Colonialisms' MSt. He also supervises undergraduate dissertations and extended essays.
