Dr Daniel Jolowicz is an Associate Professor of Latin and Greek Languages and Literature at the University of Oxford, holding a Tutorial Fellowship at Christ Church College. He specializes in Greek and Latin literature, focusing on Augustan poetry and the interplay between Greek and Roman literary cultures. His academic journey includes degrees from Oxford (BA, MSt, DPhil) and a Junior Research Fellowship at Clare Hall, Cambridge. He has held teaching positions at Cambridge and King’s College London before returning to Oxford in 2023.

- Imperial period Greek-Latin literary interactions
- Roman Empire representations in Greek literature
- Augustan poetry and elegy
- Themes in ancient Greek novels
His publications include Latin Poetry in the Ancient Greek Novels (2021) and co-edited Articulating Resistance under the Roman Empire (2023). His work explores cultural resistance, militarism, and geographical narratives in classical texts. Current research examines Rome's presence in Hellenistic to Late Antique Greek literature.
Teaching focuses on Greek/Latin language and literature modules at undergraduate and graduate levels. Active in interdisciplinary research, he collaborates with institutions like Christ Church and the Oxford Faculty of Classics.
