Marie Martine is a DPhil student in Comparative Literature and German at the University of Oxford, with a Stipendiary Lecturer role at Queen’s College. Her research examines women writers of late 19th-century France, Germany, and Norway, focusing on their responses to Naturalist discourses regarding femininity and mental health. She holds degrees from La Sorbonne (Paris IV), Bonn, and St Andrews. As a Europeaum scholar, she collaborates on enhancing democratic participation across Europe. She teaches German Prelims and Paper VIII, and co-organizes the Oxford Scandinavian Studies Network.
Her educational background includes a BA in Franco-German Studies and an MSc in German and Comparative Literature. Research themes span gender, sexuality, and medical humanities, with a focus on marginalized voices in literature. Recent publications analyze female authorship and gendered violence in works by Rachilde and Eliza Clark. She actively promotes interdisciplinary dialogue through academic networks and public engagement, such as her podcast on Georges de Peyrebrune.
