Georgina Whittingham is a Professor of Spanish Language and Latin American Literature at SUNY Oswego's Modern Languages Department. She specializes in postmodernist poetics, Mexican poetry, and the interplay between text and image. Her research explores border environment studies, feminist theatrical discourse, and race/gender/class dynamics in literature. She has published extensively, including her monograph Gilberto Owen y la crisis del lenguaje poético, and co-edited volumes in educational technology. Dr. Whittingham has held leadership roles including department chair and served as external evaluator for institutions like Siena College and Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México.
Education: Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Literature from Rutgers University; M.A. from Stanford University; B.A. from Queens College (CUNY). Teaching focuses on innovative courses like 'Mexican Theater Workshop' and 'Contemporary Latin American Film.' Awards include the Distinguished Visitor of Puebla (2001) and ACTFL OPI Certification.
