معرفی
Dr Georgia Chaseling is a cardiovascular and thermal physiologist at the Sydney Nursing School within the University of Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health. She holds an NHMRC Emerging Leader 1 Fellowship and leads multidisciplinary research on environmental extremes' impact on cardiovascular health, particularly for vulnerable populations. Her work focuses on heat stress risk assessment, cooling interventions, and public health guidelines. She chairs the Heat and Health Research Incubator Early-Mid Career Research Committee and participates in several national and international professional bodies like the Australian Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Association.
Research interests include thermoregulation in clinical populations, heat-related cardiovascular risks, and climate change adaptation strategies. She has led projects such as the SOLVE-CHD program, addressing post-discharge care for heart disease patients. Recent studies examine Finnish sauna effects on vascular health and alcohol's role in heat stress responses.
- Key Projects:
- Physiological mechanisms determining heat stress risk for CVD patients
- Cooling strategies for heatwave-affected populations
- Thermoregulatory responses in elderly and MS patients
Her awards include the 2024 CSANZ Clinical Development Award and the Sydney Nursing School Emerging Researcher Award. Grants include Charles Perkins Centre funding for heat-related cardiovascular risk research. She collaborates with organizations like the Charles Perkins Centre and Sydney Southeast Asia Centre to advance translational health solutions.
Labs/Teams: Active member of the Heat and Health Research Incubator and the SOLVE-CHD consortium, focusing on community resilience to environmental extremes.
