Dr Timothy English is a Lecturer in the Discipline of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Sydney's Sydney School of Health Sciences, within the Faculty of Medicine and Health. He co-leads the Humanitarian Settings Priority Research Theme at the Heat and Health Research Centre, focusing on preventing heat-related illnesses in vulnerable populations such as those experiencing homelessness. His work bridges exercise physiology, environmental health, and public health policy, emphasizing practical solutions like cooling hubs and fan-based interventions.
Tim's research interests include thermal physiology, climate adaptation strategies, and health equity. He has contributed to studies on heat stress in sports, pregnancy, and occupational settings. His grants include funding for mobile cooling hubs designed with input from homeless communities and partnerships with City of Sydney and St Vincent’s Hospital. He is also a member of the Charles Perkins Centre, addressing complex health challenges.
