Professor Gary A. Ballinger is the Richard D. Wood Bicentennial Professor of Commerce at the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce. With a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Purdue University, an M.B.A. in Operations Management from Wake Forest University, and a B.A. in American Government from the University of Virginia, he has built a distinguished career in organizational behavior and leadership.
Research Interests: His research explores memory, emotions, trust, and social exchange relationships across work contexts, including corporate governance, organizational behavior, and strategic management. His work examines dynamics in leadership transitions, trust repair, and network influences on employee retention.

- Student Council Teaching Awards (2020, 2022)
Editorial Leadership: As associate editor of the Academy of Management Annals and former associate editor/guest editor of the Academy of Management Review, he contributes significantly to academic discourse in organizational behavior.
