Dr. Frederick Wojnarowski is a Research Fellow in the Department of Anthropology at the London School of Economics (LSE), where he has held a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship since 2022. Prior to this, he earned his PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge (2021), following studies in Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Oxford and Anthropology and Development at SOAS. His work bridges academia and public policy, with prior experience as a school history teacher and in public policy roles.
His research focuses on the political and economic anthropology of the Middle East, particularly Jordan, examining themes such as water scarcity, environmental justice, colonialism, and Bedouin identity. His current project investigates hydropolitics in rural Jordan, exploring how water distribution, theft, and contestation reflect broader socio-political dynamics. His doctoral work, 'Unsettling Times: land, political economy and protest in the Bedouin villages of Central Jordan,' analyzes Bedouin youth navigating economic uncertainty and rural protest movements amid colonial and post-colonial legacies.
