Hussam Hussein is a Researcher at the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR) at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the International Relations Network. He is also a Fellow at the Arab Reform Initiative, Global Young Academy, and Young Academy of Sustainability at FRIAS, among others. His research focuses on hydropolitics, climate change politics, and transboundary water governance in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). He holds a PhD from the University of East Anglia and has worked with organizations like UNICEF and the World Bank. Recognized as one of Stanford’s Top 40 Changemakers in Sustainability, his work emphasizes equitable resource distribution and participatory governance.
Education: BA/MA in International Relations (University of Trieste-Gorizia), Middle Eastern Studies (SOAS, University of London), MA in European Studies (College of Europe), and PhD from the University of East Anglia.
Research interests include the interplay of politics and water resource allocation, narratives shaping environmental policies, and climate justice. His interdisciplinary approach bridges political science, environmental studies, and international relations.
