Frank Brouwer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Sussex Business School. He specializes in European integration, intellectual history of economics, and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). His teaching focuses on macroeconomics, European economic integration, and international economics. He serves as Course Director for undergraduate joint honours degrees in Economics and International Relations/Pолitics, and coordinates the Study Abroad programme. Frank organizes annual student study trips to EU institutions in Brussels and the Bank of England. He is a member of the University Association of Contemporary European Studies (UACES), the Association for Heterodox Economics (AHE), and the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE).
Frank has held roles including Senior Lecturer at London Metropolitan University, research assistant at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), and economic analyst in the City of London. He has extensive experience teaching London-based courses for US study abroad students and helped establish the University’s work placement year programme for undergraduates. Fluent in English and Spanish, with working knowledge of Dutch, Frank has lived in Latin America, Spain, and studied at the Universities of Essex and Cambridge.
