Konstantinos Baltas

Dr Konstantinos Baltas is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Banking and Finance at Essex Business School (EBS), University of Essex, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He holds a PhD in Economics & Finance from Queen Mary University of London. His research focuses on Financial Stability, Fintech, Regulation, and Efficiency Analysis, with notable contributions to banking efficiency, cryptocurrency markets, and green finance. He has secured grants including a £19,858 award from the ESRC/The Productivity Institute (2023) and a €140,000 grant from the Hellenic Foundation for Research & Innovation (2024).

Dr Baltas currently serves as Undergraduate Programme Director, Academic Lead of Partnerships, and Director of Study Abroad Studies at EBS. He has supervised multiple PhD students in Finance, including recent graduates Hamid Nejadghorban and Gadim Gadimov. His work spans 15+ peer-reviewed articles in journals like International Journal of Finance and Economics and Environmental and Resource Economics, addressing topics such as M&A efficiency, green bond performance, and post-pandemic healthcare resource management.

He actively engages in global academic networks, presenting at conferences like the European Financial Management Association Annual Meeting (EFMA) and the Hellenic Finance and Accounting Association (HFAA). His research bridges theoretical finance with real-world applications in policy, sustainability, and crisis response.
