Francesco Rabissi is an Associate Professor of French and Italian at the University of Arizona. He holds a Ph.D. in Italian Literature from Yale University (2014) and a Laurea in Contemporary History from the Università degli Studi di Milano. His research focuses on Italian Cinema, Literature, and Modern Italian culture, with particular emphasis on political and socio-cultural dimensions. He currently teaches courses such as ITAL 160D1 (Food for Thought in Italian Culture) and ITAL 330B (Once Upon a Time In Italian American Cinema).
His scholarly works include L’occhio politico e visionario del cinema italiano contemporaneo (2020) and numerous peer-reviewed articles analyzing films like Salo by Pasolini and Buongiorno, Notte by Bellocchio. His research bridges cinematic analysis with historical and political contexts, exploring themes such as dissent, postmodernism, and cultural identity.
Rabissi’s publications span over two decades, reflecting a deep engagement with Italian film history and its intersections with literature and politics. His work highlights the role of cinema in representing complex socio-political narratives, from postwar Italy to contemporary issues.
