Fiona Whelan

Dr. Fiona Whelan is a Lecturer in the Department of Management and Organisation RIKON at South East Technological University (SETU), within the School of Business & Humanities. She has over 26 years of teaching experience across full-time and part-time programs in Marketing, Tourism, and Hospitality. Her roles include Master's thesis supervision in Business and Education, with a focus on student success and well-being in higher education. She holds a PhD from the University of Limerick (2019) and additional postgraduate qualifications in Student Retention and Tourism Management.

External roles include serving as an External Examiner at Munster Technological University (2022–2025) and Technological University Dublin (2004–2007). Her research interests span services marketing, sustainability, and student progression, with contributions to chapters on yield management in hospitality and modern marketing challenges like Depop's sustainable fashion trends.

She has taught modules in Integrated Marketing Communications, Ethics, and Applied Research, reflecting her expertise in both academic and practical marketing domains. Current studies in Positive Psychology at RCSI further emphasize her commitment to student well-being.
