Dr Fiona Walkley is the Head of Subject Group for Marketing, Management, and Business Strategy at the Hull University Business School, part of the University of Hull's Faculty of Business, Law, and Politics. She holds a PhD in Management from the University of Hull and brings 15 years of senior marketing expertise from international consumer brands to academia.
Education:
- PhD in Management (University of Hull, 2011–2015)
- MRes in Business and Management (University of Hull, 2010–2011)
- Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Oxford Brookes University
Research Focus: Fiona's work applies marketing concepts to public policy challenges, including closing digital skills gaps, mobilizing social action, and building community capacity via participatory action research. She has led projects like Enabling Social Action (2018–2020) with the UK Office for Civil Society and Identifying and Repurposing Community-Based Assets During COVID-19 (2020–2021).
Teaching: She leads courses on Marketing Data & Analytics and the MBA module Marketing in a Disruptive Digital Age.

Key Research Output: Her 2024 study in Sustainability evaluates Nepal’s post-earthquake housing recovery programs for vulnerable populations, emphasizing socio-technical assistance.
