Dr Fiona Cousins is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at Hudson Institute, based in The Ritchie Centre within the Women's Health Group led by Professor Caroline Gargett. Her research is centered on endometrial biology, particularly the immunomodulation of the peritoneal environment in women with endometriosis and the identification of novel therapeutic targets.

Her research interests include women's health, endometrial disorders, endometriosis, endometrial cancer, heavy menstrual bleeding, endometrial repair mechanisms, and immune cell function. She employs both in vitro and animal models to study endometrial regeneration, dysfunction, and pathologies such as endometriosis and adenomyosis.
The most recent articles highlight a strong trend toward understanding menstrual fluid as a diagnostic tool, the etiology of endometriosis, and its links to adverse pregnancy outcomes such as stillbirth. Her work increasingly bridges basic science with clinical applications, focusing on biomarkers and therapeutic interventions.

She contributes extensively to academic service, serving on internal committees at Hudson Institute and as a peer reviewer for journals such as PlosONE, Human Reproduction, and Stem Cells and Development.
She is a member of the World Endometriosis Research Foundation and organizes outreach programs such as the Hudson Institute's Young Women in Science Program, demonstrating strong engagement in both research networks and public science communication.
