Fernando Michelin is a Lecturer in the Department of Music at Tufts University and an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, he moved to Boston in 1989 to study at Berklee, where he earned a BM in Performance in 1993. He has been active in the Boston jazz scene, collaborating with notable artists like Esperanza Spalding and producing over 13 albums as a band leader/composer. His work includes the acclaimed 'Amores Torcidos' with Katie Viqueira.
His research and artistic interests focus on small jazz ensembles, music production, and jazz education. Michelin’s career spans performance, composition, and pedagogy, with roles at both Tufts and Berklee emphasizing his dual commitment to academic and artistic excellence.
