Nando Michelin is an Associate Professor of Piano and Keyboard at Berklee College of Music. He also has teaching roles at Tufts University and Longy School of Music, and has lectured internationally in locations such as Barcelona, Montevideo, São Paulo, Venezuela, South Africa, Mexico, and Colombia. His career combines academic instruction with an active performance schedule as a jazz pianist and composer.
Michelin’s musical work includes over 14 albums as a band leader featuring original compositions, alongside collaborations with renowned artists like Esperanza Spalding, Jerry Bergonzi, and George Garzone. He has performed at prestigious venues including the Wang Theatre, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and Teatro Opera (Buenos Aires). As a sideman, he has worked with figures such as John Patitucci, Eddie Gomez, and Randy Brecker.
His pedagogical focus extends to online education, authoring courses like Latin Piano Styles through Berklee Online. His expertise spans jazz performance, composition, and cross-cultural musical traditions.
