Fernanda Viégas

Fernanda Viégas is the Gordon McKay Professor of Computer Science at Harvard University with an affiliation at Harvard Business School. She co-leads the Insight + Interaction Lab and holds the Sally Starling Seaver Professorship at Harvard Radcliffe Institute. Her research focuses on improving Human/AI interaction, democratizing AI technology, and integrating societal values into AI system design.

Her work spans generative modeling, AI interpretability, and visualization techniques for complex data. She combines theoretical research with practical applications, developing tools that enhance AI transparency and accessibility. Her visualization artwork has been exhibited internationally and is part of the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection.
