Dr. Felicity Maher is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Law School, specializing in private law areas such as unjust enrichment, contract law, equity, and commercial remedies. She teaches Equity & Trusts and coordinates the Remedies unit. Previously, she practiced law in Australia and the UK, including roles as a solicitor, judicial assistant to Lord Phillips, parliamentary counsel, barrister, and legal academic. Her doctoral research focused on unjust enrichment's 'failure of basis' doctrine.
Education: BA, LLB (UWA), BCL, MPhil, DPhil (Oxford). She holds memberships at 3 Verulam Buildings Chambers (London) and contributed to the New South Wales Law Reports. Research interests include banking law, insolvency, and legal remedies, often addressing gaps between theory and practice. Recent work includes analyzing exemplary damages, contractual indemnities, and corporate governance disclosures.
Professional Activities: Organized UWA's Private & Commercial Law Conferences (2021–2023), contributed to law journals, and presented on topics like unjust enrichment comparisons between Australia and England. Her scholarship bridges doctrinal analysis with practical legal challenges.
