Fei Yu is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Mississippi State University. His research focuses on biomass utilization, bioenergy, hydrogen production, and catalytic processes for sustainable fuel conversion. He holds a Ph.D. in Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, along with M.S. and B.S. degrees in Fermentation Engineering from Dalian Polytechnic University and Hubei University of Technology.
Dr. Yu leads the Bioenergy Laboratory, investigating topics such as syngas catalytic conversion, biochar applications, and advanced biofuel production. His work emphasizes energy-efficient processes for biomass-to-liquid fuels, including Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and biomass gasification. Key contributions include developing catalysts for hydrogen production, optimizing bio-oil upgrading, and studying biochar's agricultural benefits.
Publications span peer-reviewed journals like Green Chemistry, Applied Catalysis, and Transactions of the ASABE, with a focus on catalytic reaction engineering, bioenergy systems, and sustainability. His research bridges fundamental catalysis with industrial-scale applications, addressing global energy and environmental challenges.
