معرفی
Prakash Bhoi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Southern University’s Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing. He also serves as the Engineering Team Lead for the Sustainable Fuels Research Network. Since joining in 2017, he has led federally funded projects and published extensively in renewable energy and biofuels.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering – Oklahoma State University (2014)
- M.S. in Mechanical Engineering – Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (2005)
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering – Sardar Patel University (1999)
Research Focus:
Dr. Bhoi’s work centers on renewable energy systems, biomass conversion, and sustainable fuel technologies. His research spans gasification, pyrolysis, biofuel production, carbon capture and storage, and life cycle assessment of energy systems. He explores co-firing of biomass and waste coal, CO₂ utilization in gasification, and catalytic upgrading of bio-oils.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong trend toward integrating waste streams (plastics, biomass, coal refuse) into low-carbon energy systems, with emphasis on syngas quality, emission reduction, and economic feasibility.
Projects & Grants:
- NSF: Elucidating co-gasification of biochar and waste plastics for net-zero hydrogen-enriched syngas (2022–2024)
- DOE/NETL: Feasibility study of coal refuse and torrefied biomass co-fired power plants (2022–2024)
Labs & Teams: Dr. Bhoi leads the Sustainable Fuels Research Network and collaborates with national labs, industry, and international partners. His lab focuses on pilot-scale gasifiers, catalytic reactors, and life-cycle modeling tools.
