Sergio Capareda is Professor in the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department at Texas A&M University, with joint affiliation in the College of Engineering. His research specializes in thermochemical biomass conversion for renewable energy applications.
Research focuses on fluidized bed pyrolysis/gasification systems, biochar production, microalgae biofuels, and emissions measurement. Recent projects examine catalytic bio-oil upgrading and photobioreactor optimization for algal biomass.
Honors include the 2018 ASABE Superior Paper Award and 2016 Barklay Engineering Fellowship. Research has been funded by USAID, USDA, and Texas state agencies supporting sustainable energy development.
Current investigations target graphene synthesis from biomass and particulate matter abatement strategies for agricultural operations.
