Federica Genovese

Federica Genovese is a Professor in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford and a Fellow at St Antony's College. She leads the Varieties of Climate Vulnerabilities project (2023-27), funded by a Research Leadership Award from the Leverhulme Trust.

Her academic journey includes previous positions at the University of Essex and a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University. She has been an academic visitor at Nuffield College in Oxford, Collegio Carlo Alberto in Turin, and LUISS. Professor Genovese earned her PhD from the University of Konstanz and holds degrees from Johns Hopkins SAIS and the University of Toronto.

Professor Genovese's research focuses on International and Comparative Political Economy, with particular attention to Climate Politics and Policy, Globalization, Redistribution, and the Politics of Crises. Her work examines how different political and economic systems respond to climate challenges and global crises, with a focus on cross-national policy comparisons and the political economy dimensions of climate vulnerability.

Her recent scholarship analyzes EU climate policy, energy transition dynamics, and the intersection of financial markets with climate interventions, demonstrating how geopolitical events like the Ukraine war impact European climate strategies. She emphasizes the importance of understanding distributional consequences in climate policy design.
