Fay Lewis

Dr. Fay Lewis is a Senior Lecturer in STEM education and Programme Leader for the MA Education programme at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol). She holds a BSc in Applied Biology, a PhD in Plant Microbiology, and a PGCE from the University of Leeds. With 15 years of primary teaching experience in the North of England, Somerset, and Bristol, her expertise spans primary mathematics and science pedagogy. She currently leads the ACE - Education and Childhood department and collaborates with the Science Communication Unit.

Her research focuses on integrating engineering into primary science education, emphasizing its impact on children and teachers. Notable projects include the 'Children as Engineers' initiative in Bristol-area schools. Dr. Lewis supervises postgraduate students in education research and has published widely on STEM pedagogy, diversity in education, and teacher training methodologies.

Her work bridges scientific research and educational practice, aiming to enhance student engagement and equity in STEM fields. She actively contributes to curriculum development and teacher professional development through collaborative outreach programs.
