Eva Marikova Leeds is a Professor of Economics and Director of Undergraduate Business Programs at Moravian University’s School of Business & Economics. She holds a B.A. from Michigan State University (Phi Beta Kappa) and M.A./Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University. Her research focuses on sports economics, transition economies, and financial markets, with notable work on Czech privatization and gender dynamics in sports competitions.
Dr. Leeds has held visiting roles at the University of Michigan (2006-7), Temple University Japan (2007-9), and IZA (2016). She advised the Czech Ministry of Economy on mortgage markets (1994-95) and was a Fulbright Lecturer in Prague (1991). Upcoming commitments include a 2024-25 sabbatical in Tokyo.
Her research explores naming rights’ financial impact, Japanese baseball wage structures, and gender differences in LPGA Tour performance. She co-edited Handbook on the Economics of Women’s Sports and a Journal of Sports Economics volume on Title IX’s 50th anniversary. She is president-elect of the North American Association of Sports Economists (NAASE).
