Prof. Eva Knies is a Professor of Strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) at the Utrecht University School of Governance (USG), leading the Strategic HRM group and the Organization and Management section. Her research focuses on people management in public sectors, particularly healthcare and education, emphasizing the 'dark side' of HRM practices. She holds a PhD (cum laude) from Utrecht University and has extensive experience in societal impact through policy tools like the 'Spiegel Personeel & School' and advisory roles in national initiatives.
Key roles include coordinating the Future of Work platform, co-chairing the European Group for Public Administration’s Public Personnel Policies study group, and serving on editorial boards of journals like Human Resource Management Journal. She supervises multiple PhD projects, including those exploring HRM in education and healthcare. Her work bridges academic research with practical applications, aiming to enhance public service performance through evidence-based HR strategies.
Eva’s research has been funded by grants like the NWO Vidi (2022), and her societal contributions include media engagements (podcasts, radio, articles) and executive education programs for public managers.
