Prof. Peter Leisink is a full professor at Utrecht University School of Governance, affiliated with the Department of Public Administration and Organizational Science. His research focuses on strategic human resource management (SHRM), public service performance, and sustainable employability in public and non-profit sectors. He has extensive experience in advising organizations on leadership and HR strategies, particularly in healthcare, education, and municipal sectors.
Leisink holds a PhD in Sociology from Wageningen University and has taught at Utrecht University since 1979, retiring in 2019. His expertise includes austerity's impact on public services, public values, and workforce aging. He co-chaired international research groups like the EGPA Study Group on Public Personnel Policies and contributed to EU-funded projects.
His recent work explores HRM's role in enhancing public service performance, leadership dynamics, and organizational learning in schools. He emphasizes the importance of aligning HR practices with institutional goals to improve service quality and employee motivation.
Leisink has published widely on topics like hospital workers' employability, public sector motivation, and the societal impact of HR policies. His research bridges theory and practice, aiming to strengthen organizational resilience and public trust through evidence-based strategies.
