Erin Hester is Assistant Professor in Integrated Strategic Communication at University of Kentucky's College of Communication and Information, with affiliations to the Markey Cancer Center's Prevention Program. She holds a PhD (2022) and MA from University of Kentucky, and BS from Wittenberg University.
Her research develops communication strategies to improve health outcomes, focusing on persuasive messaging for tobacco control, cancer screening, and public health initiatives. Expertise includes translating complex health information for diverse audiences through social marketing approaches.
Current projects include lung cancer screening promotion (2024-2025) and workforce development programs for Kentucky's Cabinet for Health and Family Services (2024-2026). Publications span health communication interventions across agricultural, gerontological, and crisis contexts.
