Erik Löfmarck is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Örebro University, serving as Head of the School of Business and Economics and the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. His research focuses on social aspects of risk, uncertainty, and knowledge, with a particular emphasis on environmental governance, forestry practices, and transboundary environmental issues. He holds a PhD from Uppsala University (2014), where his dissertation explored maternal risk perceptions around food in Sweden and Poland.
Key affiliations include the Center for Social Science Environmental and Sustainability Research (CESSS) and research groups such as Work, Family and Intimate Relations and Environmental Sociology Section. His work bridges sociology with environmental policy, examining intersections between scientific knowledge and societal practices. Recent projects include studies on IPBES governance, forest management, and transformative learning for sustainability.
Publications span journals like Ecology, Forest Ecology and Management, and Environmental Science and Policy. He co-edited En mänsklig natur: Risker, reglering och representationer (2022) and contributed to interdisciplinary research on climate communication, Sámi knowledge systems, and biodiversity conservation.
