Dr. Erik Jacobi is a Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Essex, affiliated with the Essex Business School (EBS). He serves as Director of the Neuromarketing Lab and Lead of the Experimental Consumer Research and Neuromarketing research stream. His academic roles include Associate Director of Education (Management & Marketing) and Undergraduate Admissions Selector at EBS since 2017. Jacobi holds a PhD in Marketing (Economic Sociology) from Lancaster University, alongside an MSc in Management and Marketing from Lancaster and a BA in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Nottingham.
His research focuses on Market Studies, Brand Activism, and Consumer Neuroscience, with notable work on neuromarketing applications for SMEs. He has supervised PhD theses on topics ranging from accounting metrics to consumer resistance. His research has been published in journals like Journal of Brand Management and Marketing Theory.
Key grants include an Innovate to Elevate project on sustainability initiatives (2025), MultiMotion ARC Accelerate (2024), and WEBSITE Usability Optimization (NEWEL, 2020). He actively contributes to conferences such as SCORAI 2025 and the International Ethnography Symposium.
His teaching includes courses on Neuromarketing, Digital Marketing, and Professional Development. Academic support hours are held weekly during Autumn term.
