Dr. Eric S. Wohleb is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology & Systems Physiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. His research focuses on neuroimmune mechanisms in psychiatric disorders, particularly how stress affects microglia-mediated synaptic plasticity and behavior. He holds a doctorate in Neuroscience from The Ohio State University (2013) and completed postdoctoral training under Dr. Ronald Duman at Yale University School of Medicine (2013-2016).
- Current research explores stress-induced neuroinflammation, microglial biology, and rapid-acting antidepressants like ketamine.
- Key grants include federal awards from NIMH, NIDA, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
His work integrates immunology, neuroscience, and behavioral pharmacology to address mechanisms linking chronic stress, immune activation, and mood disorders. Recent publications highlight sex-specific responses in microglial and astrocytic systems to stressors.
